The history and evolution of the Canadian Association of Fleet Supervisors (CAFS) logo showcase a journey of continuity and innovation, reflecting the organization’s commitment to staying current while honoring its rich history.
The original CAFS logo, created at least 40 years ago, was designed around a truck’s steering wheel, symbolizing the association’s connection to fleet management and supervision. This logo held significant historical value and recognition, having been in use prior to the involvement of the longest-standing members.
In May of 2010, marking a significant milestone with the 60th Anniversary, CAFS decided to refresh its visual identity by introducing a new logo. The objective was to blend modernity with tradition, ensuring that the new design paid homage to the original while representing the association in a sleek and innovative manner.
Several key changes were made to achieve this balance. Firstly, the full name “Canadian Association of Fleet Supervisors” was incorporated into the new design. This addition aimed to provide clarity for newcomers who might not be familiar with the abbreviation “CAFS.” Secondly, as a proud Canadian association, a maple leaf was introduced into the logo. However, the designer ensured that it wasn’t the central focus, subtly integrating it into the design.
A notable change involved tilting the original logo to resemble a steering wheel, emphasizing its connection to the trucking industry. This adjustment not only retained the essence of the original design but also injected a sense of character and attention-grabbing elements. To enhance the logo’s visual appeal and representation, a fleet of trucks was added in the background, adding depth and reinforcing the association’s core identity.
The new logo, therefore, became a symbol that encapsulates the Canadian Association of Fleet Supervisors – blending memories of the past with promises for the future. It reflects the organization’s commitment to evolution while maintaining a strong connection to its history, embodying the spirit of progress and continuity within the ever-changing landscape of fleet management and supervision.
